Position Overview
Behavioral Health Interventions of Greater St. Louis is seeking an energetic, diligent, self-motivated and articulate team player to join its staff as an Accounting Clerk-Practicum Student. This position offers the opportunity to participate in a broad range of program operations as part of a professional, team-oriented organization.
The Accounting Clerk Practicum Student reports directly to the Operations Manager and will primarily be responsible for adding up detailed transactions, including, but not limited to amounts, types, and dates of program billable services. Such responsibilities as well include,but is not limted to monitoring all billiable accounts as well as assuring that payments are current by coding documents according BHI's bookeeping procedures.
The Accounting Clerk(AAS/BA in Accounting) Student will play a supportive-on role in the organization 's day-to-day administration, working in close partnership with the organization 's executive director and and the rest of the administrative team to carry out and manage the accounting functions of the organization 's activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
The role involves direct involvement in the administrative oversight of processes at such pertains to the organization's, compliance and navigation of accounting practices which includes, but is not limited to ; serving as a technical and professional resource to the organization and with executive director oversight responsibility for accounting operations of the organization including but not limited to the engagement of accounting compliance,and communications related to billing and reporting, vendor payment and collections management and business administration.
Applicants who have previous accounting/billing support experience as it regards direct-clinical care, multi-program administration, and communications experience are preferred. A solid understanding of accounting, bookeeping, and related administrative support tasks and strategies is a requirement.
The position will begin mid-summer 2022 to assist the organization 's president/CEO with specific tasks, which include creating/updating the billing administration portion of employee manuals and handbooks, event planning,transition correspondence, publication management and special projects related to accounting and other related responsibilities. Details of responsibilites to be further defined upon hire. In 2022 and beyond, the role will be expanded as described. This position reports to the executive director.
Scope of Responsibilities
Supports accounting operations by filing documents, reconciling statements, and running software programs.
Maintains accounting records by making copies and filing documents.
Reconciles bank statements by comparing statements with the general ledger.
Maintains accounting databases by entering data into the computer and processing backups.
Verifies financial reports by running performance analysis software program.
Determines value of depreciable assets by running depreciation software program.
Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Other related duties as needed
Desired Qualifications
An Accounting Clerk should have the following skills and qualifications to be successful in their role:
Good organization, time management and scheduling skills.
Basic bookkeeping experience, especially in accounts payable/receivable
Experiencing using office management software, including word processing software and spreadsheets
Ability to work proficiently with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills
Familiarity with financial software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Reporting skills
Typing proficiency appropriate for preparing reports
Organization, attention to detail, productivity, and dependability
